Motivation Strategies That Work

Whether in a business place, school classroom or in the home, motivation strategies that work the best are those that work the longest. Many seminars and classes are held for the purpose of motivating, but only work temporarily. There are ways to achieve long term motivation that will serve to continually reach mutual goals.

It can be said that there are several motivation strategies that are used to achieve goals. These are:

1) Team Work. Peer pressure is often seen as a negative force, but when applied in a team work situation, it can work in an opposite manner. Teams are often formed to accomplish a goal with the idea that peer pressure within the group will result in every member putting their best foot forward; each operating at their optimal levels.

2) Personal Involvement. Enabling an individual or group to set and announce their own goals often has positive results. Verbalizing the intentions is an important aspect of this method, as a commitment to the goal will be realized. Making the goals publicly known creates additional drive, most likely because it is seen as a promise.

3) Job Augmentation. Styling a job so that it has more interest and appeal is one of the motivation strategies not often implemented in the US but common overseas. Performing the same job over and over again results in a monotony that can hardly be counted as motivating. Form a group of individuals who all play a part in the completion of a job cycle, say assembly, where each person rotates jobs in a “cross training” exercise, and motivation increases because interest has now been piqued.

4) Incentives. The idea that providing rewards for a job well done is sound, but can become difficult if the employer’s idea of a reward differs from that of the employee’s. As each person has their own needs that drive motivation, it could be hard to hit upon the right incentives.

5) Exchanges. Exchanges provide one of those motivation strategies that can become convoluted. It is quite similar to offering incentives, only on a more temporary basis. For example, completing a specific job within a time frame could reward the employee with an extra day off. This is often used in the workplace, but there are frequent disagreements as to what a fair exchange actually is.

6) Competition. Sales oriented business use this often. “Be the first to sell 15 cars per week and win a trip to the Caribbean!” Healthy competition is embraced, but not if goals are set too high.

7) Fear. Sadly, motivation strategies employed by a company often include fear of loss of benefits, money and even jobs.

Implementing motivation strategies such as these can help to improve goal achievement. Which type works best is dependent on the type of company, but each has great merit when applied pro

Self Confidence – 5 Barriers That Hinder Your Self Confidence

Confidence is one of the most important traits that you must acquire for success. It is the development of confidence that will help you overcome your fear of public speaking or giving presentations. Without confidence, you can not be as effective as you would like.

Here are 5 Barriers to developing your self confidence.

Barrier #1 Fear

The number one barrier to having an unstoppable confidence is fear. It might be a fear of failure, a fear rejection or even a fear of success. That’s right, you might be afraid of success and all the responsibilities that come because of success.

But most of these fears are imaginary. The only place these fears exist are in your mind. So stop and think about your fears. Are they real or are you afraid of something that hasn’t even happened yet? If it hasn’t happened yet don’t let it stop you from doing the things you need to do. Face your fear head on and take action.

Barrier #2 Worry

The next big barrier to a powerful confidence is worry. You might be worried about being perfect, or about what others think or that you might make a mistake. All of these are caused by spending too much time thinking about you. So, stop thinking about you and start thinking about others who need your message. Once you begin to focus on helping others you stop worrying about you.

Barrier #3 Procrastination

Procrastination will rob you of your confidence by keeping you from being at your best. Every time you leave something to be done at the last minute, it will never be as good as it could have been. If you are going to be at your best you need to determine your priorities and plan your tasks according to your priorities.

Barrier #4 Indecision

The ability to make decisions is a must for building confidence. Indecision in many situations can paralyze you and render you ineffective. You can change this by giving yourself deadlines to make a decision and sticking to it.

Remember you can always change your decision if new information warrants a change, but waiting to make a decision until everything is perfect will immobilize you. The perfect time will never come.

Barrier #5 Doubt

Doubt is probably the under lying problem with the other four barriers. Your fear, worry and indecisiveness comes from your doubt in your own abilities. Why should someone believe in you if you don’t?

Acquiring confidence will not be an easy task. It will require patience, work and effort to obtain the confidence needed for your success. But, if you have a strong desire and are willing to make sacrifices you can have unstoppable confidence.

Most Famous Wiz Khalifa Quotes About Life

Cameron Jibril Thomaz was born on September 8, 1987. He is better known by his stage name Wiz Khalifa. He is a professional American rapper. In 2006, he released his first full-length album entitled Show and Prove. In 2007, he signed up to Warner Bros. Records where he released two mixed tapes. In 2009, he parted ways with Warner Bros. Records because of the delay of releasing his planned debut album from the label. In 2011, he released his first studio album entitled Rolling Papers. It debuted at the second spot of the illustrious Billboard 200 chart. The same year, he was nominated and won the Best New Artist at the BET Awards. The BET awards recognize Americans in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment.

Wiz Khalifa is not just famous for his music but also for his wise and cunning words. Following are some of the most famous quotes of Mr. Khalifa about life.

“The things that we crave the most are the things that destroy us the quickest.”

Perhaps, Mr. Khalifa is referring to addiction. Addiction can come in different forms. It can be addiction in drugs, alcohol, vices, women and men, food and so on. The rule is to take everything in moderation and avoid those things that will hard our bodies and our being. If we are hungry, feed. If we like to drink wine or any alcoholic drinks do it in moderation.

“Great minds think alone.”

This quote is about being independent. There are people who function more productively when they are alone. If you are a fan of sci-fi movies, probably you have seen scenes where one great man would come up with a remarkable invention. This quote can somehow contradict the famous quote, “no man is an island”. Although it is true that man can never live alone. There are times in life when we need some time alone to think and to contemplate.

“Some people make your life better by walking into it while other people make your life better by simply walking out of it.”

This quote can refer to friends and frenemies. Friends can make our life better because they can offer comforting words and wise criticism. Frenemies are friends that can’t be trusted. They belong to the same circle of friends. They say words that bring you down. Having them walk out of your life can make life better.

“Good things come in good time.”

Be patient and never lose hope. If you are expecting something, do not force it to happen. Outcomes may not be so great if you force it. Remember that patience is a virtue. Wait for the right time and everything will come as expected.

“Being single doesn’t necessarily mean you’re available. Sometimes you have to put up a sign that says ‘Do Not Disturb’ on your heart.”

This is true. Many people think that when you are single you are available. What if you are single because the person you are seeing passed away. Dating takes time. It may be too soon to fall in love. We always have to be considerate. Confirm if that person is ready to fall in love before asking him or her out for a date.

“Sometimes we waste too much time to think about someone who doesn’t even think about us for a second.”

We often waste time thinking about someone who does not even think about us, for example a high school crush or a person you just met in the corridor. As they say, do not stress yourself with people who do not even deserve to be an issue in your life.

Wiz Khalifa’s quotes are very inspiring. It tackles every facets of man’s life. If you need a little cheering up, read quotes and be motivated.

Motivation and Motivational Tools for Security Guards

I have been in the security industry for years and when I asked field supervisors at the new companies I started with how they motivated their security guards they just looked at me bewildered. Their answer was basically that being a security officer was such an easy and simple job that the guards did not need any motivation. In my experience any job that one wants to get done well needs accountability, follow-up and motivation. Besides that if one looks at all aspects of the security guard job it is not that simple.

A security guard needs many skills including communications skills, observations skills, attention to detail, common sense and good decision-making skills. Many security officers and field officers that are untrained and have never received the proper coaching think that the most important aspect of the security guard job is physical presence. Showing up to work, being on time and leaving on time is just the minimal requirement of the security officer job. A motivated and well coached security officer will display all the above named skills and much more.

Every new company I have started with as a security consultant or operational manager needs a culture change, because the security guard job is a job one should be proud of. It does not only require tremendous skill and dedication, but security guards also perform a great service to society. The culture shift includes creating a culture of coaching and motivation. It also included feeling and understanding a purpose in what one does every day. Security officers working with me understand the critical role they play for the economy and society. They not only understand that their job requires tremendous skill, but they understand that these skills are expected of them. If they do not possess the necessary skills they will be coached until they do.

I have received a lot of push back at the companies I have worked at in the beginning, because change is not easy to institute and not easy to accept. Nevertheless, all the companies I have worked at have been more successful and guards have been happier at their jobs. After accepting that clients will be happier with better and more skilled service, guards will understand that they have to raise their skill level. At the same time they are not working a dead-end job of clocking in and clocking out, but a job that teaches them skills and gives them purpose. With higher expectations security officers have to be motivated to leave up to the expectations.

Therefore field supervisors need to learn the power positive reinforcement and coaching can have. In the beginning I will go on field visits and demonstrate coaching sessions. I coach my field supervisors and my security consultants. I share books and articles with them. The power of coaching is infinite. If it is practiced continuously the security guards will get better at what they do every day. That results in better security service, happier clients and most importantly in employees that come to work with pride and a sense of purpose.
